Monday Monday
I have a sink full of dirty dishes to deal with, two baskets of laundry to put away and I don’t feel like doing a damn thing!
My Cheese steak pie received mention, be it ever so brief at: http://www.sogoodblog.com/2007/09/17/so-good-blognews-round-up-917/ .
Lack of sleep is becoming a serious problem for me. Why I found it necessary to consume a peanut butter & strawberry jam on whole wheat bread along with a large glass of orange juice at 3:30 am this morning also remains a mystery. What I really wanted was a Nestle milk chocolate bar (a large one!) Much to my dismay the Nestle website store locater claims there are none within 20 miles of me.
I am still wrestling with thoughts on the engagement ring thing. Not that I have received any proposals other than indecent ones of late. I stumbled upon a blog entry and article that I wish I had saved the link to. The author claimed that an engagement ring marks a woman as a mans property. The entire rationale seemed to be based on the authors conclusion that men do not also wear an engagement ring. A bit of thought on that (in the middle of the night) brought me to what should be an obvious conclusion; Why not? In the year 2007 what would be so wrong with a woman giving future hubby a diamond engagement ring? How many women have tried? Have we become so single minded that an engagement ring can only look like this?
Why can’t it also look like this:
For now I think I’ll just consider a diamond ring given to another in the spirit of love from the heart and dreams of the future as just that.

This reminds me of something that happened to a friend of mine.
She was wearing her grandmother’s diamond ring. She wore it on her right hand to save room for a ring from her future husband. A customer at the store we worked at noticed it and said something to the effect of “women wearing diamonds on the other hand? Now what does THAT mean?” implying that she was a lesbian and her future wife did not deserve a place on the left hand. Well, my friend let him have it for being a close minded jerk.
That wasn’t a really relative story, but I felt like sharing because I haven’t commented in a while.
