Ceramic Penguins & . . .

My dollar store penguins were camera shy. The high gloss finish reflects way too much light but you can get the idea from this snapshot:

The miniature penguin tribe is increasing:

We had Briana over for a visit after election day half day of school yesterday. She brought along these interesting dolls. They each come apart in several pieces so that everything (body parts included) can be interchanged. I’m not sure what message we are sending kids with the toys out there but she seems to enjoy them. I can’t help but wonder if there is a male counterpart to this doll set. It would be interesting if there were. I’d love to just sit back and see how gender stereotypes hold up when 5 year olds can create whatever is in their little minds.

I love the 2nd penguin picture. The shadows in the background add so much.
And I love the ceramic penguins. A little creepy and circus-y, but still cool,
    :)

The ceramic ones needed a good home, I couldn’t resist.

I bought these at Family Dollar on Eastern Ave across from Price Chopper here in Schenectady. They usually have a nice selection of ceramics.
