After Midnight

Way back in 1960 I was standing in line at a corner mom & pop shop proudly displaying a Kennedy for president button on my lapel. Next to me in line was a wealthy well dressed woman with a gold broach on her lapel that read Nixon complete with a diamond that dotted the I. She looked down at me, turned and said “isn’t mine much prettier than yours” pointing to her lapel. I smiled politely not knowing what to say, after all I was only 10 years old.

Here we are 48 years later and when I listen to you speak it feels like 1960 all over again. I see money and power talking down to me when I want to see honesty and hope. I don’t like pit bulls with or without lipstick. I don’t trust the breed, they viciously attack for no reason and prey on the weak leaving death and destruction in their wake. Well now, that does sound just like the GOP, maybe you did get the pit bull part right after all.

I don’t care about hockey moms Sarah. Oh, may I call you Sarah? Actually I will call you whatever I choose I am many years your senior so have the same respect for me that I have always had for my elders. Unlike you Sarah I care about all moms, all women and their (my) right to be free and equal. Free & equal to make our own choices as we see fit without restriction based on you or your parties religious beliefs.

You are a political parrot Sarah, you say what they tell you to, your need to make a point of one of your male handlers statements as you took the stage make that crystal clear. The heels are on now take off the gloves? Joe six pack? Please, spare me the BS, I don’t like men that drink excessively and I have my own lipstick & heels I don’t need or want to hear about yours. Now if I could get those gloves you took off maybe they would help keep me warm this winter since I can’t afford heat.

Sarah dear I want our troops to come home. I am sick of our men and women being killed on foreign land. I want living wage full time jobs for anyone that wants one without discrimination for any reason. I want the poor in this country fed, I want a fully inclusive ENDA, I want same sex marriage to be the law of the land, I want the homeless sheltered. I want the streets safe to walk, I want health care cost shifting stopped, I want energy independence. I want the federal reserve brought under US treasury control. I want the great nation that JFK envisioned, yes Sarah dear it is just like the 60’s all over again. Oh, how silly of me, you were not even alive back then but somehow you seem to represent the very worst of then and now all rolled into one.

So please Sarah, for the good of the other 49 states go back to Alaska. Go back to your hunting and hubbies dog racing and please while you are there do as little harm as possible until the fine people of Alaska come to their senses and vote you out of office forever.
