After Midnight

Searching For Rainbows After The Storm

Sunday Shopping

One nice thing about car dealers in upstate New York is that most of them are closed on Sunday. That means you can look around to your hearts content without some jerky salesperson trying to sell you something you don’t want for much more than you want to spend. Why something that should be a pleasure is always turned into a task much akin to an IRS audit remains a mystery to me.

I am not exactly shopping for a car but this is how it usually begins. First I check all the local dealers online. Then I make a few Sunday visits to see what might interest me. This time I was just looking for a bit of color to snap on an overcast almost spring like day.

First we have this cute drop top Porsche, 245 hp @ 6,500 rpm,  0-60 mph: 5.8 seconds, Top speed: 160 mph.

Next we have what I needed all winter. Details unknown but it can go over or through almost anything I heed to get past from the looks of it.

Then we have a Mitsubishi Eclipse. I have wanted one of these since 1989.

Next up the H2 and its little sister the H3. Either of these would be nice to take on my trip out to the high desert later this year.

We are getting close to the end only two more to go.

Here we have the Z06 Vette, 505-hp 7.0 Liter V-8 six speed manual transmission. You can have this one for the asking price of 62,999 dollars plus tax.

Last we have my personal favorite, the Dodge Viper Coupe SRT10, 600 hp, 8.4 litre V-10, six speed manual transmission. zero to 60 is less than 4 seconds, top speed 197 MPH.  A bargain at 62,999.

If you scroll back up to the yellow H2 and look to the left of the photo (you can click on any of them for a larger view) you will see Kermit, my 2002 green Dodge Neon, 2.0 liter 4, 5 speed manual transmission with the drivers window down and the engine running. Not very pretty but it does get me where I need to go and back.

This little photo outing reminded me of just how much I miss shooting with a full size DSLR. I should have brought my old Canon 300D with the wide angle zoom. I think it is time to start looking for a new DSLR, maybe a Nikon this time. Oh well at least I did find a little color to snap on a Sunday afternoon.
