The Portrait Project

Even the most casual observer of these proceedings might possibly get the idea that I enjoy taking pictures. Just about every picture on this blog is unplanned, spur of the moment, what I see is what you get because that is the way I like it. Honest and simple. Clearly, as the title indicates, there is something else going on besides a picture of a cup of coffee the kids brought me tonight.(long gone as I write this)

BTW, I did get a new coffee maker today. $9.24 at Walmart, makes nice coffee too. Good brew temperature right around 200 degrees F, just the way I like it. Yes I am way off on a tangent here. Back to the portrait thingy.  Now the only thing I like less than taking a picture of myself is having to sit (or stand) for someone else to take my picture. Yes, I need a recent picture of myself to send to Montreal along with my medical history.

The question is do I just send one of those hold the camera at arms length and snap pictures or do I set up the lights and all that stuff and send them a decent portrait. I think the latter wins out. That is where I will be this weekend hidden away in the back room creating a self portrait, yuk.
