Gratitude

September 21, 2009 Arlene 1 comment

As my insane world slowly returns to its typical level of insanity I thought I might share with you one more reason I really dislike most people. As most of you know I recently moved to a new apartment at the invitation of my landlord. What I didn’t tell you was why my roommate, her whole family and I decided to move so quickly. Here is the rest of the story:

Once we accepted the new apartment my landlord asked if we would show the old one to to one of his other tenants. A bit later what seemed to be a nice couple drove up in a brand new very expensive looking SUV. We showed them the apartment and they looked it over top to bottom. They told us they had to move ASAP because their daughter was being bullied in their current location. Naturally my roommate and I as well as our landlord felt bad for them and wanted to do everything we could to accommodate them. Trying to be a good person and against my doctors orders I agreed to get out of the old place as quickly as possible so they could move in. As I said in my last entry we were out in 12 days. The next day the landlord had the place redecorated for them and they moved in two days later.

Yesterday I bump into my old upstairs neighbor who is now also moving. It seems the people we were so desperately trying to help turned out to be first class ingrates and down right ass holes. The first thing the told my old upstairs neighbor was that he had to get his lawn chairs and table off their front porch. Their front porch? I guess they never learned about common areas of rental properties. The next thing the said was what slobs my roommate and I were since we didn’t clean the windows before we moved out. That’s what we get for trying to be nice. Not a thank you, now our daughter is safe, Not even a nod of appreciation for moving so fast to help THEM out.

Well that’s gratitude for you, I guess.

12 Days Later

My head is still spinning. 12 days is how long it took to pack, move out and move in. That includes cleaning both places. I take credit for absolutely none of it.  The kids did everything.

There was only a glitch or two all beyond our control. The water heater quit the day we moved in and it took Time Warner a week to get our internet and TV up and running. The hot water problem was fixed the next morning. Somewhere in the middle of all the insanity my main PC monitor up and quit forever. The Acer replacement is a wide screen, the bios on my system is so outdated I have to use the acer in the 1:1 mode. Time for a new motherboard.

I haven’t had much time for pictures, the only one I have today is a snap of my Toshiba mini taken by LED light.

Almost There

The old house is almost empty. All that remains are the computers, some bedding and the big stuff that will go on the U-Haul. We spent the afternoon at the Laundromat washing drying and a lot of waiting.

Waiting is always a good time to experiment with a camera. This photo was taken with a custom color profile, 1/20 sec (gotta love IS) f 3.2 ISO 100.
