Almost There

The old house is almost empty. All that remains are the computers, some bedding and the big stuff that will go on the U-Haul. We spent the afternoon at the Laundromat washing drying and a lot of waiting.

Waiting is always a good time to experiment with a camera. This photo was taken with a custom color profile, 1/20 sec (gotta love IS) f 3.2 ISO 100.

You Snooze You Loose

I was pretty psyched about that Linux netbook. As luck would have it by the time I managed to put the money together they were out of stock. Disappointed I proceeded to Amazon to see what they had. I found a nice Samsung  in pink no less at a good price of $337.00. At checkout they added $29.95 tax and $16.95 ground shipping.  I pressed cancel order. Back to Newegg, I found a Toshiba (black, oh well) for $349.00, no tax, free shipping. It shipped today and will be here Tuesday due to the holiday.

My landlord calls the other day and asks me to stop by his office. “Oh crap, what did I do now.” As it turns out he has a beautiful second floor apartment with hard wood floors, complete refurb, and it is absolutely beautiful and for the same rent I am paying now. I took it on the spot. Now I have 9 days to pack and move so he can paint this place for a new tenant. More good news! I don’t have to clean this place up before I leave.

Other news: My original birth certificate is now part of official court records and will not be returned to me. I have to contact the agency the state of New Jersey uses for “certified official records” nice to know states are farming out vital statistics. Kinda makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, NOT!

Overdue Update

I would love to say that I have been busy scurrying around doing all sorts of wonderful things. I really do (wish I could say that), but I can’t.  My anxiety levels are off the scale they are so high and waves of depression come and go at hurricane intensities. Add writing block and photo block to the list. Stir in some of the adults around me acting like two year old’s fighting over a toy and it is no small wonder I accomplish anything at all.

Yes the clock is ticking, 145 days till my trip, sounds like a lot of time but it is not. I’m shopping for a netbook. Newegg has a purple Asus that runs Linux for $169.00. Never ran Linux but all I really want from a netbook is already on it, firefox and open office. It just might be worth it.

I know, I know, this trip stuff is getting old but it is the most important milestone in my life and “ME” is what this blog is about anyway. Still, Ill try to keep it to a minimum.
